Hi dear!! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
What I want to share with you today is a tutorial about how to change your doll’s expression.
All you need is Photoshop and a photo of your doll, let’s go! ~ ✨
Which picture do you need 📸
Basically, we need our doll’s face to be seen as clear as possible.
Portraits are perfect to change their facial expression, but a medium shot like this one of Yuuko can also work.
When you have your photo ready, go to Photoshop and let the magic begin! ✨
Editing Steps 🖥️
1
Go to Photoshop and click Filter > Liquify. You’ll see a new interface with lots of tools but don’t worry, today we’ll only play with one of them.
2
Use the “Forward Warp tool” with a size relatively similar to the eye of your doll.
Try changing the size according to the area in order to refine the editing.
3
Click and drag your mouse modifying the photo to your liking. It’s important to go little by little: it’s better to do a lot of little modifications than a big one. This is how we’re going to get a subtle retouch without destroying the photo.
Press play to see the process!
Other examples 🎨
This is the kind of editing that I do the most with the filter Liquify: raising the lower eyelids a bit so that the eyes are slightly narrowed. It’s very subtle and it gives my dolls a cheerful mood that makes them look super alive.
Another example of the same editing but with Millhiore (although here it looks a little bit more fake 😆)
Here I retouched her eyebrows and the corners of her lips to get an angry expression.
Same but only with the mouth, since Glitch already has angry eyebrows lol
This one was based in other dolls’ expression like Alice Kuonji, specifically her mouth. It’s very useful to have external references, both from other dolls and illustrations or real photos, to achieve the desired feeling.
And finally, a clearly exaggerated editing, but because this mini-story needed it 😆 The limit is your imagination!
And that’s all! 🎀
As you can see, it’s super easy, quick and fun! Also, with this tool it’s like if we had many more dolls, the possibilities are endless! 😍
If you edit your doll’s expression in a photo following my tutorial, please tag me or let me know, I would love to see that!💙💙💙

I’m happy to be helpful!!! ^_^ Most Photoshops have this ‘Forward Warp tool’ in the Liquify section, but the new update has some amazing tools! :O
