Kagura Nendoroid: my Toy Photography process

Hi dears!! (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Some days ago I received my Kagura Nendoroid from Onmyoji and I got so excited that took her lots of pictures!! 😍😍

I ended up working really hard for this photoshoot so I thought it would be nice to share my Toy Photography process in this post. Hope you like it! ~ ✨

Diorama 🏡

The diorama is quite simple, it only has 3 parts:

  • The floor is the one I did for this Miki Hoshii’s photoshoot.
  • The wall on the right is also from the same diorama, but this time I added a piece of tracing paper behind it to soften the light.
  • The back wall is a part of the Nekomata box from Alter, which I opened very carefully (although I do not recommend it XD).

What I love about Nendoroid Photography is that I’m able to experiment with backgrounds and lighting much more easily than with dolls.

I spent hours playing with the materials and the lights! I tried many combinations until I got the soft tones and the perfect mood for Kagura 💜

In order to better understand the effect of each light source, please take a look at the following photos:

The editing process you see in the video contains:

  • Modification of “ugly parts” such as the corner, the base of the Nendoroid and the lack of flowers
  • Creation of extra shadows and lights
  • Tonal correction
  • “Special effects”, such as exaggerating the light that comes in through the windows

Final photos! ~ 🌸
